  Introduction.

I. One of the great problems of man, and of the Christian, is time.

II. Job wrote our days are few and wrought with trouble. (Job 14:1,2).

III. Some problems relative to time.

I. Problem Of Recognizing Our Frailty And Measure Of Days

A. Learn to recognize that we are frail and life can be taken away. (Psa. 39:4; 90:12).

B. James 4:13 tells us of the brevity of life.

C. Life is something we live daily - a day at a time.

II. Problem Of Protecting Our Body And Caring For Our Health To The End That Our Days May Be Lengthened.

A. Man's years may be increased. (Psa. 90:10; Eph. 6:2).

B. We are not to have the attitude that life is short and it doesn't matter what we do.

C. Life can be lengthened by

l. Eating nutritiously

2. Sleep

3. Working sensibly

4. Exercise sufficiently

5. Relax restlessly

D. Whatever contributes to our longevity is a daily problem which involves our time.

III. Problem Of Limitation Of Time

A. There never seems to be enough time - a limited amount it.

B. There never seems to be enough time to accomplish all we want to do.

IV. Problem Of Procrastinating Until Tomorrow What Should Be Done Today

A. The great words of the Bible are "now" and "today". (2 Cor. 6:2; Heb. 3:7,8).

B. Tomorrow is dangerous. (Prov. 27:1).

V. Problem Of Redeeming Time

A. Paul wrote (Eph. 5:16).

l. Redeem means to buy back, not to waste.

2. We need to rescue our time from waste.

B. Wasting time - We can save time by not wasting it.

l. Lack of application

a. If we accomplish things, we must apply ourselves. (Eccles. 9:10).

b. Because play is easier and more fun, the child refused to apply himself very long.

c. We need to put away childish thing and act our age. (l Cor. 13:11).

C. Reading cheap literature. (Phil. 4:8).

D. Engaging in dissipation rather than recreation.

l. Recreation build us up - it refreshes.

2. Dissipation tears us down physically, mentally and spiritually.

E. Pondering past mistakes

l. All men have made mistakes.

2. Accept God's forgiveness. (Heb. 8:12).

F. Worrying about the future.

G. Meditating on injuries - real or fanciful. (Rom. 12:19).

H. Gossiping or listening to gossip. (Lev. 19:16).

I. Some waste time by lying in bed longer than is needful or helpful. (Prov. 20:13).

J. Long telephone conversations

K. Disorganization

L. Being afraid to make a decision

M. It is not a waste of time
